Yao Jianquan

Yao Jianquan, born in 1939 in Shanghai, famous laser and nonlinear optical experts, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In July 1965 graduated from the Department of precision instruments, Tianjin University, received a master's degree, stayed on to teach, served as lecturer, associate professor, professor, doctoral tutor, deputy director, department director, director. In 1997 he was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Now he is a professor and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronic Engineering, Tianjin University. He is also the director of the Academic Degrees Committee, honorary president, director of the Institute of Laser and Optoelectronics, vice president of Tianjin Association of Science and Technology, president of Tianjin Association of Experts. Vice president of Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, and vice director of Academic Committee of State Key Laboratory of Tunable Laser Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, China. He is also the Chairman of China Association of Smart Cities Industry; vice director of Science and Technology Committee of Ministry of Education. In recent years, he has been doing research on terahertz wave radiation, and projects such as 973, 863 and the National Natural Science Fund are undertaken. Since 2016, he works as Chief Scientist of Shenzhen Institute of Terahertz Technology and Innovation.

Professor Yao engaged in laser and nonlinear optical frequency conversion technology research, developed high power frequency doubling laser theory. He invented the biaxial crystal of the best phase match the exact calculation theory, the international academic community known as "Yao technology", "Yao method", and widely used in international academic circles. In the new laser and application technology, he has successfully developed a high-performance solid-state laser, tunable laser, high-efficiency frequency series laser; all have reached the international advanced level.

He has published more than 380 papers and published more than 120 papers in international conferences and foreign journals. He has completed more than 50 research projects and become a well-known laser and non-Linear Optical Expert. He has won two national invention prizes, the State Education Commission scientific and technological progress second prize 4 times, Chinese Academy of special award, military science and technology progress award, the 36th Eureka international invention fair gold medal, Eureka Expo gold medal individual level Knight medal, five patents.

Prof. Yao has been named the national outstanding contributions of young scientific and technological experts, the outstanding scientific and technological workers, Tianjin, special model workers to enjoy the special allowance of the State Council.
