On April 27th, Shenzhen Institute of Terahertz Technology and Innovation (SITTI) invited the world famous laser and nonlinear optics experts, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, SITTI chief scientist Mr. Yao Jianquan, Dr. Zhang Yating, Dr. Zhang Haiting and Dr. Song Xiaoxian came to visit China Communication Technology Co.,Ltd. CCT. Mr. Ding Qing, CCT Vice President, SITTI Executive Dean and others gave a warm reception.

First of all, Mr. Ding briefed reported the recent work and the progress of the work of the research centers. Since the beginning of 2017, just four months, SITTI attained fruitful achievement in the exchange and cooperation: signed a Long-term Cooperation Agreement with Key Laboratory of Terahertz Optoelectronics, Ministry of Education, Capital Normal University; and held a Project Exchange and Cooperation Conference with the University of Waterloo in Beijing; Shenzhen Planning Ten Innovation Center Shenzhen Terahertz Manufacturing Innovation Center was established; also successfully held a "Terahertz Substance Detection and Application" Seminar and so on. Academician Yao fully affirmed and highly appreciated the work had been down by the Institute.

At the symposium, Yao gave guidance on the research and development direction of the Institute's terahertz technology. He pointed out that terahertz was very useful in detecting explosives, drugs and other threats in parcels or checked baggage and hoped that we would develop a new generation of security equipment, such equipment to be able to use terahertz technology, and was used to detect explosives and drugs and other dangerous goods. In addition, the terahertz sensor and terahertz in the application of medical biology is nowadays hot, should increase research and development efforts. Finally, colleagues exchanged views on the business and technical aspects of the work.
